Personally, I believe that Ron
Weasley has developed the most out of all the characters in all of the Harry
Potter books thus far. Harry has always been brave and the ‘Chosen One’ and he
hasn’t really expanded as a character because he has always been the center of
the spotlight. Hermione is probably the second most developed character but Ron
still beats her out I think.
Ron starts
out this series as an outcast, always being overlooked, even from his own
family. And then he meets the famous Harry Potter and has been nothing but
loyal to the guy. But other than being good friends with Hermione and Harry,
Ron didn’t have much else to make him special until book 6 really. When
Lavender Brown came along and became Ron’s first girlfriend and all they did
was snog he finally became more individual, not just Harry’s shadow. You also
see that he has a lot of skill in Quidditch when he isn’t freaking out about
the whole game and especially when he thinks that he drank some liquid luck.
For a long
time Ron was, as I said, Harry’s shadow. He just followed him around and always
helped him out when he needed it, like playing chess in the first book, or
going down to the Chamber of Secrets. But more recently Ron has become more of
a man with feelings for girls finally, you also get to see a dispute between
Hermione and Ron and you can only wonder what that may lead to eventually. All in
all Ron has developed as a character greatly throughout the series, but
especially in the sixth book.
