Blog 3: Conclusion

Now that I have completed the series, I can say I am very saddened that this magical and wonderful story has ended. I honestly enjoyed reading every minute of the seven Harry Potter Books. Personally, Deathly Hallows was my absolute favorite of the series because it brought the story full circle and revealed every hidden and long kept secret. One revealed secret in particular that completely shocked me was that of Snape. Throughout the series, Snape was either playing the role of the good guy or the bad guy and you were never fully able to tell which side he was truly on. However, by the conclusion of the Deathly Hallows it is finally revealed that Snape had been on the good side this whole time. We learn that during Snape’s youth he had fallen in love with Harry’s mother, Lilly. After Lilly had been murdered by Voldemort, Snape swore to Dumbledore he would do anything to keep Harry safe because that was all he had left of his precious and beautiful Lilly. Learning of this secret melted my heart. I had always had my doubts about Snape but after learning this I truly believe he was on the good side this entire series. Snape’s actions either occurred in order to obey Dumbledore or out of his love for Lilly. Knowing this, I have even more respect for Snape and believe him to be a caring and brave man. To me, this is one of the main secrets that brought the series full circle because the mysterious and sneaky ways of Severus Snape were finally revealed.
