Overall, I loved the end of the series because it resolved
so many issues so the reader can move on with their life. My favorite thing
about the series though, was the way we saw Harry, Ron, and Hermione develop
from aspiring children to powerful wizards (and witch). Each of these
characters changed from the beginning of the series and they each also taught
me important life skills.
Ron Weasley
taught me that it is possible to overcome your fears while at the same time,
trying to sweep a girl off of her feet. This was proof when he stabbed the
locket with the sword of Gryffindor, even though piece of Voldemort was using
Ron’s fears against him. And in the same book, he finally kissed the girl of
his dreams. So that is a true hero to look up to right there.
Hermione
taught me that even though school is important, friendship is just as
important. An example of this is given in the first and then the third book.
When we first meet Hermione in the first book, she is skeptical about being
friends with Ron and Harry because of their mischief ways. But by the time the
third book comes around, she has not only stepped up but is also suggesting
ways to help Sirius and Buckbeak (even though it was illegal.) So even though
friendships are tested throughout the series, Hermione has taught me well.
And last
but definitely not least, we have Harry Potter. Harry has taught me so much
with topics ranging from bravery and courage to love and friendship. Harry is
the most detailed character when it comes to backstory and I think that plays a
huge part in his development. When we first meet Harry in the first book, he is
wondering whether or not he will even be able to stay at Hogwarts and by the
end of the seventh book, he defeats the most evil wizard of all time and saves their
world. So yes, you could say Harry has taught me that no matter what, there is always
a way.
You could
say that the Harry Potter series is just a kid’s book series for the sole
purpose of entertainment. But you would be wrong. Harry Potter is a series that
not only talks about bravery, love, friendship, school, fears and death but it
also shows you how to master each of these things.
