makeup-up blog

The character of Draco Malfoy changes a lot through out the book of Half-Blood Prince. In all of the previous books, Draco has been portrayed as the tough guy, the bully. In Half-Blood Prince you start to see a shift in his behavior  In the beginning of the book you find out that Draco is on Lord Voldemorts side of the battle. Since this is my first time reading the books, I did not know what was going to happen but I figured at one point he would turn to the dark side. He was always picking fights and arguments with Harry and his dad was a death eater so it made sense to me that he would follow in his fathers foot steps. In Half-Blood Prince, Draco becomes emotional and soft, compared to his hard guy attitude in the other books. I think that Draco was becoming over whelmed with the task that he was given to do, which was to kill Professor Dumbledore. I think that through out this book Draco realized that he was not as tough as he thought he would and he realized he has a heart and did not want to actually kill. Draco was in a very stressful and sticky situation  He did not want to complete his task of killing Dumbledore that Voldemort gave him, but if he did not complete this task then he would get killed himself. I think that this shows that people can change. I always viewed Draco as a bad guy and I never had or felt sorry for him. Throughout this book though my feelings changed. I started to feel bad for him because he was in an awful position and he was having a change in heart and wanted to do the right thing. I think how Rowling stated that Draco was seen crying is what really got me feeling for him. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance but in Draco's case he really was never given one since Voldemort would kill him if he did not do what he was supposed to. Draco is just a teenager and I feel like people are constantly changing. He hated Harry Potter from the start because Harry was not afraid to stick up for himself and Draco just believed in the dark side since his father was a death eater.
